01 — The Problem

The Per-Shipment Fee Trap

Shopify tracking apps look cheap until you do the math. Parcel Panel and AfterShip charge €0.05-0.08 per shipment on top of their base subscription. At 5,000 orders/month, that's €250-400/month just for shipment tracking — €3,000-4,800/year. At 15,000 orders/month, it's €750-1,200/month. The base subscription you saw on the pricing page is a small fraction of what you actually pay.

The fees grow with your store. The functionality doesn't. This is the most common per-order-fee trap on Shopify, and it's almost always the first app European stores replace when they get serious about app costs.

02 — Our Solution

What We Build

A custom tracking system that lives on your domain and integrates directly with the carriers your customers actually use:

Native carrier integrations: DHL Paket, DHL Express, DPD, GLS, Hermes, UPS, FedEx, PostNL, Österreichische Post, Swiss Post, Colissimo, Chronopost, BRT, SDA, GLS Italy. Each with its own webhook handling, status normalization, and event timeline.

Branded tracking page: Hosted on tracking.yourstore.com with your CSS, your fonts, your domain. Customer never leaves your brand experience.

Proactive notifications: Email and SMS triggers on key events — shipment created, in transit, out for delivery, delivered, exception. Configurable per locale, with multi-language templates built in.

Carrier exception handling: When DHL pauses delivery for an unreachable address, when DPD requests a redelivery slot, when a package goes missing — the system flags it, notifies the customer, and gives your support team a single dashboard to act on.

Returns visibility: Same tracking surface for outbound and return shipments. One source of truth.

03 — For Your Market

Built for Carrier Reality in DACH

Most US-built tracking apps treat European carriers as second-class citizens. They use the carrier's public web tracking — slow, often broken, missing key events. We integrate at the API level with each carrier:

DHL: Real-time webhooks via DHL Business Customer Portal API. Native Packstation handling. Intra-Germany delivery time predictions.

DPD/GLS/Hermes: Direct EDI feeds where available, REST APIs where not. Notification timing matches German consumer expectations (10-12am for delivery alerts).

Cross-border: Customs status surfaced for non-EU destinations (Switzerland, Norway, UK), so customers know when duties are pending versus when delivery is genuinely delayed.

04 — Replaces

Replaces Apps Like

Parcel Panel (€0.05-0.08/shipment + €11-79/month base), AfterShip (€11-239/month + per-tracking fees), 17TRACK, TrackingMore, and DACH-focused tools that bolt onto a US framework. Stores doing 5,000+ orders/month routinely save €3,000-9,000/year on tracking alone after the migration. More on app categories where merchants overpay.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the branded tracking page improve customer experience?

When customers click 'Track my order' from your shipment email, they land on tracking.yourstore.com instead of being bounced to a third-party domain like aftership.com. Same fonts, same brand, same UX as your store. Customer trust improves measurably — we typically see customer service tickets about 'where is my order' drop 30-50% after migration, because the tracking page surfaces the answer before they need to ask.

Can I customize the email and SMS notifications per country?

Yes. Templates are per-locale (German, French, Italian, etc.) and can include carrier-specific guidance. For example, German customers get Packstation pickup instructions when their parcel is routed to one; French customers get the local pickup point address with opening hours. We build the templates with you during implementation.

What if a carrier's API changes after launch?

Carrier API changes are handled in the included 30-day post-launch support window and through optional maintenance contracts. Because we own the integration code, we can ship fixes within hours — not wait for a SaaS vendor to add the change to their roadmap. Several DACH-focused tracking apps still don't support DHL's 2024 webhook format updates; ours did within a week.
